Set up access to your session

You can change the way your public will access your session. Click on the cogwheel for Settings on the top right of your screen and then on the tab Connection & Security. Within this section, you'll be able to determine the access mode and set up more security for your sessions.

Your public can access your session through the following modes: Email, Avatar, or Username.

Email

By selecting the Email option or account required, Participants must have a Beekast account to access the session. They will be identified through their profile name.

Avatar

The Avatar option allows the participants to join the session even without a Beekast account. The session will be completely anonymous, and an avatar will be randomly given to each participant.

Username

This last option gives the opportunity to the participants to join the session even without having an account. Then, they enter a chosen username to identify themselves on the session.

The default connection mode on Beekast is Avatar, on all Beekast sessions.
Notes
An avatar is only automatically assigned to the owner and session moderator when they first connect to the session. The same avatar cannot be changed.

Advanced security settings

According to the connection mode, you can enable some additional restrictions to enhance the security of your session.
  1. Restrict session access with a password: Only participants with the password can access the session. This option is available for all the connections modes to the session.
  2. Restrict access to domain: Only email addresses with an authorized domain name can access the session. This restriction is only available in email connection mode.
  3. Restrict access to email: Only participants with the authorized email address can access the session. This restriction is only available in email connection mode.

Our recommendations

To secure access to your session, we recommend that you:
  1. Choose an email connection mode and limit your session by domain name or by email.
  2. Set a password on your session, to secure access to your session.
  3. Change the session code every time you reset your session
  4. Close your session once it has ended or is no longer being consulted in order to secure your session data.
