Create a “Pin on image” activity

Create a “Pin on image” activity

Discover Beekast's new activity: Pin on image!

This 2-in-1 activity lets you assess your participants by asking them to find the right answer in the image presented, or simply take their opinion. The objective? Find and position the correct answer(s) on an image. Test knowledge or poll your participants in a fun way with this visual activity!

This activity is currently in beta mode. Some features are not yet available, such as viewing the statistics in the Results tab or exporting the activity to documents (PDF, Word or Excel).

How does it work?

This activity offers two possible formats:

  • The evaluation format: this activity allows you to measure the level of acquired knowledge of your participants and to assign them points for each good answer.

To participate, your audience must place one or multiple “pins” on the good answer(s) on the image (set by the facilitator) in order to collect the points of the question.

  • The survey mode: this activity also allows you to collect your participant's opinion and invites them to place the “pins” where they wish on the proposed image (without the notion of a right or wrong answer).

To create and add the activity “Pin on image” in your session, click on “Add a slide” on the top left, then select “Pin on image” at the bottom of the drop-down menu.

Set the activity

Once the activity is selected, you can set the parameters in the middle of the slide, as well as from the panel on your right.

In the middle of the slide, you will have access to the following settings:

  1. Fill in the title of your activity or your question

  1. Add instructions if you want, this will grant more details about your activity. This is an optional setting

  1. Choose the score assigned to the activity. It represents the number of points that your participants will earn by answering the activity correctly. You can disable the score (4) or choose to assign up to 10 points.

If the score is disabled, the activity will then be a Survey and not an assessment type of activity.

5. In the middle part, you can add an image and associate the propositions to pins, by clicking on the “+ Add area” on the left of the small red garbage bin. You can add as many propositions as you wish.

To add an image, click on “Image” then choose one from your device, from an external site, or from our royalty-free bank of images integrated into Beekast.

On the panel on the right of your screen, you will find the following settings:

  • Activity format

Here, you can choose between an assessment activity or a Survey type of activity. In the survey mode, points will be disabled and your participants will have just one answer to place on the image.

On the activity in Survey mode, it is not possible to change the answers once these are sent.

  • Correction and results

Choose the display mode for the results of your activity: either after each answer during the activity, or when the activity ends by your own means if you are in facilitator control mode.

(i) For a participant's control mode (asynchronous), you can choose in the Settings of your session to see the results after the activity or at the end of the session.

  • Time management

To dynamize the activity even more, you can select to have a Stopwatch or activate a Timer, which will end the session once the time expires.

It is also possible to see the number of participants that are present and to activate a countdown at the beginning of the activity.

Finally, click on Save at the bottom of the slide to save the activity.

Start the activity for your participants

In the participant control mode (asynchronous mode), your activity is accessible automatically once the activity is saved.

In the facilitator control mode, the owner of the session or the host must start the activity manually by clicking on the button Start activity on the top right of your slide.

To make your activity unavailable for the participants, you can click on Stop activity, on the top right of the slide. The participants will no longer be able to send new answers.

As the owner/facilitator of a session, you can choose to participate in the activity by clicking on the tab Participate on the top of the activity slide once it has been launched.

To participate in the activity, click and drag the “pin” until you reach the desired position in the image. For each proposed answer, the list will indicate the questions that remain to be solved and those that already received an answer.

For the assessment activities, the participants will no longer be able to modify their responses once these have been sent.

The options for the activity

At any moment, you can by clicking on the three little dots on the top right of the activity:

  • Edit the activity

  • Duplicate

  • Restart

  • Do a screenshot

  • Eliminate the slide

Scores

  • Scores by participants

If your activity “Pin on image” is set as an assessment activity, your participants will earn points if they answer the activity correctly.

The individually earned points can be seen directly on the slide of the activity by the participant by clicking on the “trophy” icon on the top right of the slide.

The facilitator can see the points earned by the participants too, using the projection screen to see the progress of each one.

To do so, click on the projection of the session button, in the top right corner of the screen. This will open a second window on your browser in which you will see the current slide. On the bottom right of the “Pin on image” slide, click on the trophy icon to display the activity’s podium, with all the individual scores.

  • General leaderboard and team podium

If you created teams for your session, the earned points by teams during the activity will also count for the final scores for the teams. The facilitator can then display a general leaderboard by teams, over the projection screen.

To access the projection screen, click on the Project session button at the top right of your screen, then click on the "Leaderboards" icon at the top right of the projection screen. Then click on the "Individual" or "Team" icon at the bottom right to display the different rankings.
