Canvas activity
Thanks to all our users for their suggestions for improvements to the new Canvas activity! Your feedback really helped us to develop this feature.
Canvas is Beekast’s new collaborative activity. It is a whiteboard-type activity with a number of features that allow you to:
lead an ideation session with sticky notes, manual grouping and drawings
work on your own visual background to generate even more ideas with significant contextualisation
vary your ice-breaker activities by trying out our new Blob tree inspiration, for example
digitise your team rituals and set up your visual management with a regular Canvas – perfect for remote and hybrid teams
pass on information to your participants using a diagram or explain how something works using a drawing in real time during your session
organise your ideas or work together on a mind map using our simplified tools
The Canvas activity gives you freedom to create something together with your participants, with or without prior preparation.
Canvas’s zoom feature now adapts to the content as it loads. This means that the entire canvas is visible when you launch the activity.
We have reworked the size of the sticky notes and the placement of text so that it is better suited to the automatic zoom level.
You can now display a grid on your Canvas using the keyboard shortcut “G”. This magnetic grid helps you to easily align your items.
You can access a number of features using keyboard shortcuts. To make things easier, we’ve listed them all in a cheat sheet that you can access in the Canvas interface (by the zoom button).
You’ll also find them in the toolbox.
To make freehand drawing and use on a mobile or tablet easier, the freehand tool will now stay activated unless you choose another tool. You can also draw freehand with the “empty” (unfilled) shapes.
You can now personalise arrows and choose the shape of each end.
We’ve also added new shapes, so you can now use triangles and parallelograms as well as the existing ones.
You can take a screenshot of your entire Canvas to keep track of your session. To tailor it to your context, choose the resolution you want to have greater flexibility with bigger Canvases.
Remember that you can also find the list of sticky notes in your session statistics document.
Your participants can add to your Canvas activity using their smartphone or tablet.
You can now invite as many participants as you like to a Canvas activity. However, to ensure the best user experience, we recommend using this activity with groups that aren’t too big. You can read our technical recommendations on the page in the help centre.
We have a range of inspiration templates for the Canvas activity so that you can easily plan collaborative meetings.
Whether it’s our new Blob tree template or one of the variations of our Board activity (The 5 Whys, Thinking Hats, ROTI, etc.), discover our 16 templates to help you reinvent your meetings with a visual activity like the Canvas.
