Identification/Connection modes

Identification/Connection modes

In this article, you'll find the possible ways your participants have to join your session.

When you create your session, you need to choose the identification mode. Three options are available.
To select the identification mode, once in your session, click on Settings at the top middle of your session, then click on Connection & Security.

Email (Mandatory Beekast account)

The identification by Email requires a Beekast account to log into the session. Here are some details:
  1. Access to the session: a required Beekast account
  2. Identification of the participants: Beekast account information (Name, first name, and email)
  3. Access to Beekast features: this mode allows you to take full advantage of the tool's potential. In particular, the attendance list, the actions/decisions, and the possibility for the participant to find back the session at any time from their account.

Avatar (Optional account)

The Avatar identification is the Beekast default mode. Here, your public is not obligated to have a Beekast account to join your session. Each participant is identified using an animal avatar and an adjective (i.e. Agile Giraffe). This feature allows you to dissociate each participant while keeping them anonymous. It is ideal for a gamification of your session. Avatars are randomly given, and participants can validate the one they wish or generate randomly a new one until they are satisfied.
  1. Access to the session: an optional Beekast account
  2. Identification of the participants: Unique avatar
  3. Access to Beekast features: All the activities are available to the participants, but features such as the attendance list, Actions & Decisions are not available. Participants will not be identified in the documents (Report, export excel).

Username (Optional account)

Participants, with or without Beekast account, must fill in a free username when joining the session.
  1. Access to the session: an optional Beekast account
  2. Identification of the participants: Unique avatar
  3. Access to Beekast features: All the activities are available to the participants, but features such as the attendance list, Actions & Decisions remain unavailable. Participants will not be identified in the documents (Report, export excel).

Is it possible to change the identification mode?

It is possible when there is no participation in the session. But, once there is a participant connected to the session (recording of participation data), it becomes impossible to change the identification mode. It is up to you to reset the session if you want to change the identification mode.
