How to display two web pages side by side?

Display two windows side by side or extend your screen to present your Beekast session while staying in control.

Running a Beekast session often means managing several visual sources at once: keeping an eye on two windows at the same time (for example, Beekast and Zoom), or presenting your session on a room screen while keeping your moderator interface to yourself. This article covers both methods.

Display two windows side by side on one screen (Windows)

Handy for keeping your Beekast and Zoom tabs visible at the same time:

  • Click the first window, then press the Windows key and the right arrow key at the same time. The window will then take up one half of the screen.

  • Click the second window and press the Windows key and the left arrow key. It will take up the other half.

This dual-window display works with any type of document: Word, Excel, image, folder, etc.

Good to know: to exit this display, simply press the Windows key and the up arrow key at the same time.

Extend your screen to a second display or projector

Extended display is a screen projection feature. It lets you have a separate display between your computer screen and your projection screen. This feature lets you connect your computer to a projector, a room screen, or similar, to display your projection screen there. Your moderator/owner interface, meanwhile, stays on your computer screen so you can moderate messages, move through slides, and manage all other activities in your session.

On Windows

First, connect your second screen/projector to your computer. Then use the shortcut Windows key + P. Whether you're on Windows 7, Windows 8/10, or 11, click the extend option.

On Mac

First, connect your second screen/projector to your computer. Then, from the Apple menu (top left), click System Preferences and select Displays. Then click the Arrangement tab. Make sure the Mirror Displays box is unchecked.

Present your session on the second screen

Once your screen is extended, click Present at the top right of your session. A new tab will open with your session's projection screen. Drag the presentation tab to your second screen / projector.

You can start and end your activities discreetly from your admin page or directly from your projection page.

Good to know: to do this, make sure the Show controls tab is enabled in the settings (hover over the banner at the top right of the screen to display the different tabs).
